What functions does it perform?
The main function of the 911 emergency call center is handling emergency calls, in particular:
- Receiving alerts about emergencies and cases;
- Accepting calls related to social and domestic issues;
- Coordinating responses suitable for the created situation;
- Offering psychological assistance to those in need;
- Providing first aid and medical consultation.
The emergency call center does not handle cases in the following situations:
- Insufficient information – When the information provided is inadequate or insufficient for organizing a response, including the nature of the case and the address.
- Irrelevant calls – When the nature of the call does not relate to the functions of the “911” service or do not pose a threat of an emergency or case.
- False calls – When the call is clearly false or found to be false upon follow-up verification.
- Duplicate calls – When the call is about the same address and same case, as well as no additional information is provided by the caller.
- Language barriers – When the caller speaks a foreign language (except for English and Russian).
- Inappropriate language – When the caller uses inappropriate or offensive language before providing information related to the emergency or case.
