Ensure the continuity of the Action Plan on Disaster Risk Management Strategy and identify existing issues: an interdepartmental working group meeting was held at the Rescue Service
On December 16, under the chairmanship of the Director of RS-Deputy Minister of IA Kamo Tsutsulyan, a meeting of the interdepartmental working group on "Disaster Risk Management Strategy for 2023-2030 and Action Plan for 2023-2026" was held at the Rescue Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
The representatives of the main and supporting professional structural divisions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the "Territorial Seismic Protection Service" SNCO, the State Reserves Office, the Educational Complex of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and employees of the Police and Rescue Services participated.
Emphasizing the importance of ensuring an objective assessment of the implementation process of the action plan, identifying existing problems and making joint proposals to solve them, Kamo Tsutsulyan noted that the goal of the interdepartmental working group meeting is to ensure the continuity of the reform strategy.
"By eliminating existing issues, gaps and their causes, clarifying the steps requiring interagency solutions, we will have the opportunity to formulate a framework of agreed and feasible actions for 2026 and ensure the coordinated development of the program", noted Kamo Tsutsulyan.
The Deputy Head of the Strategic Planning, Policy Development and Monitoring Department of MIA Meruzhan Khachatryan, presented the progress, achievements and current issues of the Disaster Risk Management 2023-2026 Action Plan.
In their speeches, the members of the working group presented the work carried out within the framework of the Action Plan on the Disaster Risk Management Strategy, the issues that arose during them and their proposals for solutions.
The session discussed issues such as improving disaster risk management legislation, developing a disaster risk assessment and indexing system, increasing the level of protection in emergency situations, assessing post-disaster needs and recovery, developing volunteer activities, including disaster risk management components in strategic tourism development programs and a number of other issues.
In his concluding remarks, the Director of RS-Deputy Minister of IA Kamo Tsutsulyan, urged to consistently conduct the activities in all directions defined by the strategy, to regularly submit reports on the work done and measures taken, which will allow for timely responses to problems that arise in practice.
