Director of RS-Deputy Minister of IA Kamo Tsutsulyan received the World Bank delegation.
The meeting was attended by the Director of the Hydrometeorology and Monitoring Center of the Ministry of Environment Levon Azizyan and the RS Deputy Directors Tigran Petrosyan and Arsen Mkrtchyan.
Noting that the long-term cooperation with the World Bank was significantly contributed to the development of the Rescue Service capabilities, Kamo Tsutsulyan emphasized the importance of continuing cooperation with the possibility of new initiatives.
Members of the delegation, hydrometeorology Consulting specialists Haleh Kootval, Vladimir Tsirkunov, and urban development specialist Nora Mirzoyan, presented the key World Bank programs and emphasized that they attach particular importance to the improvement of hydrometeorology, climate, and early warning systems.
As a priority for the early warning and risk management system, issues of capacity development, effective governance, and strengthening inter-agency cooperation were discussed.
Referring to the actions envisaged in the roadmap for reforms in the hydrometeorology sector, the priorities were identified, which were aimed at ensuring early warning between the Rescue Service and other departments in the context of climate risks, as well as public awareness. It was emphasized that these actions were key in the context of increasing the efficiency of services and strengthening the capacity to withstand natural disasters.
The parties reaffirmed their willingness to continue cooperation, emphasizing that the development of modern systems will contribute to increasing the effectiveness of risk management, while ensuring sustainable progress.
