Working discussion on the safe management of hazardous chemical substances at the "Nairit Plant" CJSC was held in the Rescue Service of MIA

On October 2, an interdepartmental discussion on the safe management of hazardous chemical substances at the "Nairit Plant" CJSC was held in the Rescue Service of MIA led by the Director of RS-Deputy Ministry of IA, r/s Major General Kamo Tsutsulyan including the Deputy Director of RS, the specialists from the Population Protection and Disaster Risk Reduction Department and the Technical Safety National Center, as well as the representatives from the Ministries of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure, Environment, the National Security Service, the Urban, Technical and Fire Safety and the Environmental and Mining Inspection Bodies of RA and the bankruptcy manager for "Nairit Plant" CJSC, the responsible persons from "Nairit 2" CJSC.

The agenda of the discussion focused on the current actions of the interdepartmental working group established by the Prime Minister aimed at developing possible mechanisms for managing chemical substances and decommissioning equipment unsuitable for operation at "Nairit Plant" CJSC.

Welcoming the attendees, the Director of RS emphasized the need for proactive interdepartmental cooperation of chemical substances at "Nairit Plant" CJSC. He particularly highlighted the critical role of preserving and monitoring these chemicals, emphasizing that achieving safety necessitates collaborative and ongoing efforts.

In his speech, Kamo Tsutsulyan addressed several issues related to reducing the risks of emergencies and implementing preventive measures.

During the meeting, reports were presented by the Head of Population Protection and Disaster Risk Reduction Department of RS, r/s Colonel Gurgen Martirosyan and the bankruptcy manager for "Nairit Plant" CJSC Murad Petrosyan, as well as the Head of the Coordination of Investment Programs, Economic Analysis and Monitoring Department at the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure.

The speakers discussed the current condition and challenges of "Nairit Plant" CJSC, focusing on issues such as the maintenance of chemical substances and equipment at the facility and further neutralization, the management of unused and partially dismantled structures, the risks and their impact on the environment. Simultaneously, the attention was given to the ongoing collaborative efforts with international organizations aimed at addressing these challenges.

The meeting was accompanied by a discussion with participants to present proposals for addressing the existing challenges in the field.

At the end of the discussion, an agreement was reached to compile a package of proposals based on the reports presented by the members of the working group regarding the urgent issues facing "Nairit Plant" CJSC. This working package will be submitted to the Deputy Prime Minister's office to ensure effective organization of further processes.
