Trainings on "For first responders to radiological, chemical, biological cases" in Syunik and Shirak Fire and Rescue squads

From October 7 to 16, the specialists of Radiological, Chemical and Biological Situation Monitoring Division of Population Protection and Disaster Risk Reduction Department of the Rescue Service of MIA of RA  organized and held professional training on "For first responders to radiological, chemical and biological cases" in Syunik and Shirak provinces attended by 34 participants from teams responding to radiological, chemical, and biological cases, composed of rescuers from the Kapan and Gyumri Fire and Rescue Squads.

The training sessions were conducted in theoretical and practical phases, aiming to increase the capabilities, practical skills and safety of first responders in emergency situations.

At the theoretical phase of the training, the specialists presented an introduction on "Radioactive materials", courses on "Types, use, methods of personal protective means" and "Decontamination methods and technology".

The second part of the training was dedicated to practical learning, where participants were able to apply their theoretical knowledge through simulation exercises that modeled radiological, chemical, and biological emergency situations. During the practical session, trainees conducted radiological, chemical and biological reconnaissance, sampling, as well as decontamination processes using specialized protective suits and equipment.

Similar training sessions are planned to be organized for the Fire and Rescue Squads of Lori and Tavush Regional Departments of the Rescue Service, which will contribute to the continuous development of the practical capabilities and professional knowledge of the first responders in emergency situations, as well as to increase public safety throughout the Republic of Armenia.

Such initiatives are always on focus of the Rescue Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, expressing the system commitment to increase the level of safety and protection of the population.
