On May 21, at 15:16 an emergency call was received to Syunik Regional Operative Management Center that sparks had been coming from a truck on Kajaran–Meghri roadway, while the driver was still inside.

Three fire units and the operative group from the Fire and Rescue Squad of Regional Rescue Department of the Rescue Service of the MIA of RA dispatched to the scene.

It turned out that a car accident had occurred at the 7th kilometer of Kajaran–Meghri roadway: the car had veered off the roadway and crashed into a nearby rock, trapping the driver inside.

The rescuers carried out cooling operations and, using special equipment, pulled the driver from the truck and transferred him to an ambulance: the latter was hospitalized.
