Table-top exercise was held in Shirak province to ensure the population protection in case of a landslide threat
On November 14, a table-top exercise on “Organization of population protection measures in case of a sharp activation of landslide of Arapi” was organized and held at Shirak Regional Rescue Department of the Rescue Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
The main purpose of the event was to check and improve the participants' readiness to act quickly and effectively in emergency situations.
The exercise was conducted in one stage, during which the issues of personnel warning, gathering, request, organization of population evacuation, as well as the implementation of search and rescue and disaster recovery operations were discussed in detail.
During the exercise, the situation developed through intermediate stages, which allowed the participants to deeply analyze possible scenarios and test their response capabilities.
The participants presented reports, showing in detail the activities will be conducted by them on the organization and implementation of population protection measures in case of a sharp activation of the landslide of Arapi.
Through questions, the shortcomings made by the participants were identified and specific instructions were given to eliminate them. In order to eliminate the identified shortcomings, a decision was made to include relevant topics in future professional training sessions.
The exercise contributed to the development of the participants' skills and abilities, as well as to the testing of the action plan in case of large rockfalls and landslides in Shirak province.
The table-top exercise was attended by employees of the Population Protection Department and the Crisis Management Center, as well as commanders of the Fire and Rescue Squads of Shirak Regional Rescue Department.
Such exercise is important to increase the preparedness of the Rescue Service and to ensure the population safety in emergency situations.
