Special tactical training exercise at Yerevan Kindergarten No. 90

On July 24, Yerevan City Rescue Department of the Rescue Service organized and conducted a special tactical training exercise at Yerevan Kindergarten No. 90 on "Organization and implementation of firefighting activities."

The purpose of the special tactical training exercise was to:

  • assess the readiness level of the combat units in solving the firefighting tactical tasks assigned to them,
  • support the development of tactical thinking among the command staff of the Fire and Rescue Squads,
  • improve the skills of firefighters and rescuers in search and rescue activities, firefighting, and the evacuation of victims by stretcher from smoke-filled zones on upper floors.

The exercise was conducted in one phase, according to a pre-approved plan. The “Fire” alarm was sounded through the notification system and loudspeakers. Immediately after the alarm, the kindergarten staff organized the evacuation of the children, moving them to a safe area.

Upon arrival at the simulated fire scene, the firefighters and rescuers carried out reconnaissance, thereby addressing a number of important tasks: they identified what was burning, assessed the scale of the fire, determined the directions in which the fire was spreading, as well as the routes and means of deploying forces and equipment to ensure the most effective firefighting organization.

The condition of the building was checked for collapse risks and the presence of toxic or flammable materials. The need for evacuation of property was also discussed, as well as protection against smoke, fire, and water damage.

The fire units, with clear and coordinated actions, conducted the reconnaissance simultaneously with the deployment of the firefighting teams. Paying close attention to people’s safety, they located the simulated victims trapped in smoke-filled areas using smoke protection rings and evacuated them on stretchers to a safe location, where the medical team provided first aid.

At the conclusion of the exercise, the results were summarized. The readiness of both the rescuers and the kindergarten staff to respond to emergencies was evaluated. The strengths of the exercise were noted, as well as areas needing improvement, with corresponding recommendations given.

Such exercises not only contribute to the professional development of rescue teams but also enhance the community’s level of self-organization and responsibility during emergencies.
