July 16 • 14:24, 2025

On July 14–15, the Collective Center of Civil Defense Forces of the Civil Protection Department of the Rescue Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs organized and conducted a training course on “Actions of Firefighter-Rescue Squads in Cases of Detecting Common Explosive Devices or Receiving False Alarms.” The course was attended by rescuers from the Fire and Rescue Squads of Yerevan Rescue Department.

The training aimed to improve the knowledge and skills of rescuers, enabling them to act effectively and safely in potentially explosive situations.

During both the theoretical and practical parts of the course, participants were introduced to protocols for operating at the scene, safety regulations, and general information about various types of ammunition and their associated risks. Although neutralizing explosive devices is the responsibility of bomb disposal experts, rescuers play a crucial role in managing the overall incident—from cordoning off the area to evacuation and assisting bomb squads. Participants were thoroughly briefed on the complete sequence of actions to follow when responding to a report of a suspicious or explosive object.

The discovery of an explosive device constitutes an emergency situation that can pose a serious threat to human life, property, and the environment. Therefore, speed, accuracy, and discipline in response are of vital importance.

Such training programs are essential for enhancing the readiness of rescuers, equipping them to confidently and effectively handle unexpected emergencies of any kind.
