On April 19, at 12:10 an emergency call was received at the Ararat Regional Operational Management Center reporting that a RTA had occurred near the Zod Bridge with injured people: rescuers’ assistance was required.

One fire-rescue unit from the Fire and Rescue Squad of the Regional Rescue Department of the Rescue Service of the MIA of RA was dispatched to the scene. 

It was established that Opel and Jeep vehicles collided at the 49th km of the Yerevan-Meghri Highway, as a result of which the Jeep vehicle overturned. The driver of the Opel vehicle died at the scene.

Rescuers disconnected the vehicles from the power supply, shut off the gas cylinder valves, extricated the body of the driver from the Opel vehicle and transferred it to the hearse.

Rescuers also assisted two passengers of the Opel vehicle to the ambulance: they were hospitalized.

Rescuers then righted the Jeep vehicle and carried out roadway washdown operations at the scene.
