RS Director - IA Deputy Minister Kamo Tsutsulyan received representatives from the UN Resident Coordinator Office
On September 25, the Director of the Rescue Service - Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Kamo Tsutsulyan received the Coordination and communication specialist from the UN Resident Coordinator Office Doris Mauron Klopfenstein. The meeting was also attended by the Deputy Director of the Rescue Service of MIA of RA Tigran Petrosyan and responsible for cooperation and coordination at UN Resident Coordinator Office Arevik Anapiosyan.
Welcoming the guests, Kamo Tsutsulyan highly appreciated the long-standing close cooperation and expressed his gratitude to the international partners for their continuous support in developing the capabilities of the Rescue Service staff, providing technical assistance and ensuring rapid response to emergency situations.
Presenting the ongoing programs and new potential avenues for cooperation, Kamo Tsutsulyan emphasized the activities of the urban search and rescue team in Armenia qualified according to the international standards of the UN INSARAG and emphasized that it is necessary to continue the provision of professional consulting support in the field in order to successfully overcome the international qualification exams in 2027.
Doris Klopfenstein, in turn, expressed her gratitude for the warm welcome and emphasized her expectation for active collaboration in the development of emergency response plans. She highlighted the importance of reassessing and reaffirming the functionality of disaster management and emergency response teams within this framework. Additionally, she expressed satisfaction with the readiness, operational response and teamwork of the Rescue Service.
During the meeting, several issues were discussed regarding crisis management, emergency response, information management, early warning, public awareness and warning systems, as well as the organization of rapid response and conducting joint exercises.
The parties exchanged ideas on providing technical and expert support and emphasized the need for further close cooperation aimed at developing emergency management capabilities.
