RS Departments of the Ministry of Internal Affairs was switched to enhanced service due to weather conditions
By order of the Director of RS - Deputy Minister of IA Kamo Tsutsulyan, the departments of the Rescue Service were switched to enhanced service due to the deterioration of weather conditions considering the weather conditions, especially snow, fog and black ice, which often make roads impassable, hazardous, and stuck vehicles.
Stuck vehicles, especially on interstate and intercommunity roads, are among the most common issues that often disrupt normal traffic flow and cause additional issues.
The fire and rescue squads regularly conduct patrols on a number of interstate highways in the Republic, establish duty hours and set the emergency bases, if necessary in order to ensure the safety of the population and quickly respond to emergencies due to precipitation.
The rescuers responded promptly to numerous calls from citizens: on February 6, 8 cases of stuck vehicles or in traffic jams were recorded on problematic sections of the roadways of the Republic. Totally, the rescuers removed 78 stuck vehicles out and provided appropriate assistance to 204 citizens.
For safety reasons, the Rescue Service urges drivers to drive exclusively with winter tires, to be extra vigilant and to strictly observe traffic rules.
