Rescuers were trained on "Diving Preparation"
According to "2025 training qualification plan for rescuers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs" of the Russian-Armenian Humanitarian Response Center, from February 16 to March 1, five rescuers of Center for Carrying out Activities of Special Importance of Rescue Forces Department and Sevan Special Water Rescue Squad of Gegharkunik Regional Rescue Department held a qualification improvement training on "Diving Training" in the Russian Federation.
The theoretical part was held at the Civil Defense Academy of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of RF, while the practical training sessions were conducted in the Moscow River.
The purpose of the training was to deepen rescuers' professional knowledge and practical skills in diving operations, enhance their ability to perform effectively in challenging conditions and at the same time foster team cohesion by building trust that will help them overcome even the most difficult and unpredictable situations.
The water rescue team was introduced to the fundamentals of diving-related illnesses, first aid rules, the use of specialized equipment and gear, as well as the impact of depth on a diver’s health.
At the same time, Armenian rescuers became familiar with the specifics of underwater search and rescue operations conducted in Russia Federation, as well as the methods for ensuring compliance with safety regulations. They were introduced to the procedures and formats for completing the necessary documentation when organizing diving operations at diving stations, the composition of teams designated for diving operations, the functional responsibilities of individual specialists within these teams, and the procedures for fulfilling these responsibilities.
Additionally, they learned about diver qualification levels, the professional skills required for different qualification levels, and the corresponding professional duties. The training also covered various types of diving operations and the actions undertaken by the diving team in the event of emergency situations arising during operations.
During the practical training sessions, participants conducted dives using various diving equipment and gear, searched for and retrieved sunken objects, provided assistance to casualties and carried out various underwater tasks under different conditions. This allowed them to enhance their skills in working with different types of underwater tools and improve their proficiency in conducting underwater search operations both from the ice surface and beneath the ice.
At the end of the training, the head of the Academy awarded the Armenian rescuers with qualification advancement certificates.
