On April 22, at 12:38 an emergency call was received to 112 Operative Management Center of the MIA that the territory of a medical center in Avan had lost power, as a result employees and patients became trapped in an underground shaft.

One fire unit from the Fire and Rescue Squad and the Management Division for Firefighting and Rescue Activities of Yerevan Rescue Department, the rescue group from the Center for Carrying out Activities of Special Importance of the Rescue Forces Department of the Rescue Service of the MIA of RA dispatched to the scene.

It turned out that 46 citizens were located in the underground shaft at a depth of approximately 230 meters. 

Using an activated generator, rescuers successfully evacuated all 46 citizens via the shaft's elevator.
