Rescue Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs launched the events dedicated to Disaster Resistance Day
On the occasion of the 36th anniversary of the devastating 1988 earthquake, the Rescue Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs is launched a series of public awareness events on "Disaster Resilience Day" throughout the country involving state institutions, local self-government bodies, educational and medical institutions, as well as other relevant organizations.
As part of the events, public awareness campaigns, commemorative evenings, seminars, drills, thematic lectures and training exercises at the aim to prevent disasters, enhance public awareness, strengthen population protection mechanisms and improve resilience will be conducted in Yerevan and provinces.
The extensive events aim to enhance preparedness at all levels, from schools to communities, while also paying tribute to the memory of the innocent victims. Lessons learned from past disasters will be presented, uniting the population in a spirit of collective action against disasters.
The initiative aims to enhance public preparedness and mitigate the impact of disasters, with a particular focus on the most vulnerable and target groups, while strengthening multispectral cooperation among state institutions, local self-government bodies, NGOs and the public. Through joint efforts, this cooperation will contribute to building a safer and more prepared society, promoting a comprehensive and systematic approach to risk management—an essential prerequisite for disaster prevention and impact reduction.
Let’s remember that with awareness, joint efforts and coordinated approach, we can build a stronger, more prepared and resilient society.
