Regional Rescue Departments of the Rescue Service summarize the month of May
In May, the subordinate units of the Regional Rescue Departments of the Rescue Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs organized and conducted a number of training sessions and drills throughout all regions of the Republic. The purpose was to raise public awareness and enhance practical skills for acting safely and in a coordinated manner during emergency situations.
Command and headquarters exercises on "Implementation of population protection measures in case of a strong earthquake" and facility-based drills on "Organization of patient protection measures in case of fire" were conducted.
Simultaneously, the demonstrative and special tactical exercises were conducted with a continued focus on consistent oversight of fire safety and a responsible approach. These exercises addressed the organization and execution of firefighting and evacuation operations in case of fires in various institutions, gas explosions, gas leaks from underground pipelines and fires due to earthquakes. They also included activities related to first aid provision and the rescue of casualties under rubble. Drills were also organized and implemented on “Clearing of a road section blocked due to a rock-fall” and “Public warning, sheltering, and evacuation in case of an “Air-raid” warning siren”.
In various educational institutions and organizations in the regions, both theoretical and practical events on various topics were carried out. These included training sessions on “Behavioral guidelines during and after floods”, “Warning sirens” and “The dangers of burning grassland in fields and orchards and the importance of its prevention”. These activities aimed to raise public awareness and preparedness for natural and man-made disasters, as well as environmental hazards, while also promoting appropriate and differentiated behavior during and after floods, thereby contributing to improved readiness.
Highlighting knowledge and skills development for proper actions during emergencies, the training sessions also covered the following topics: “Organization and implementation of population evacuation and sheltering”, “Specifics of search and rescue operations during railway accidents”, “Basics of fire safety”, “Warning, evacuation, and sheltering”, “Floods and warning”, “Floods and earthquakes” and “Proper orientation during emergencies”.
During the month, seminar-trainings on Civil Protection Plans (CPP) were also conducted to enhance the effectiveness and preparedness of the civil protection system, as well as to improve the planning process for emergency prevention and response actions.
The subordinate units of the Regional Rescue Departments also carried out public awareness activities aimed at preventing potential wildfires in forests and vegetated areas, combating fires, and preventing their spread. In crowded places, awareness leaflets were distributed and posters were displayed to inform the public about fire safety rules.
