Due to the hot summer weather, the risk of fires in the Republic was also increasing. For this reason, the Rescue Service of MIA consistently conducted large-scale awareness-raising activities every year in order to prevent fires, avoid possible catastrophic consequences and strengthen the culture of observing fire safety rules among citizens.

The focus of awareness-raising activities was especially on recreation areas, forest and forest-related areas, where the flow of people is significantly large. The rescuers are conducting awareness-raising activities in an intensified mode, both on foot and by car.

“We conduct awareness-raising activities on weekends and holidays in order to raise the level of public awareness in the coastal areas of rivers and in all settlements”, said the Deputy Commander of Vayk Fire Department of RS of MIA Artashes Avagyan.

During awareness-raising events, employees distribute information leaflets to citizens, post warning posters in visible places and remind them of fire safety rules through loudspeakers.

The rescuers urge, especially on hot and windy days, do not to burn dry grass and household garbage, do not to throw out unextinguished cigarette butts, do not to light bonfires in forest, forest-border and vegetated areas. If the campfire was lit in a designated area, it is necessary to make sure it is completely extinguished before leaving.

Remember, even a small fire caused by carelessness can turn into a major disaster in minutes, endangering people's lives and health, destroying forest and vegetated areas, damaging biodiversity and causing significant material damage.
