From June 16 to 18, personnel from the subordinate units of the Rescue Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs participated in a training on "Organizing and conducting search and rescue and emergency recovery operations in flood-affected areas" organized by the Educational Complex of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
The training focused on the proper planning, coordination and implementation of operations under flood and catastrophic inundation conditions.
Within the framework of the three-day training program, participants reviewed both the theoretical and practical aspects of the causes and nature of floods and catastrophic inundations, as well as assessed their potential impact on the natural and built environment. Special attention was given to the river flooding process and its effects on riverside settlements, infrastructure and engineering structures.
One of the key components of the training was the organization of rescue and evacuation of people in the water to safe areas, as well as the provision of first aid to victims during floods. Theoretical discussions also covered the rescue of people from upper floors and rooftops of buildings, along with possible methods for practical application.
The training also focused on the specific features of organizing search and rescue operations under catastrophic flooding conditions, risk assessment and coordination of the involved response units.
As part of the practical phase, team exercises were conducted on the formation of search and rescue groups, area assessment, casualties’ detection and evacuation operations.
These activities provided an opportunity to test and enhance abilities in rapid decision-making, team coordination and situational awareness of the participants through simulations closely resembling real emergency conditions.
