Prompt and well-coordinated response in emergency situations plays a crucial role in saving lives and ensuring an effectively organized reaction. In this context, the continuous development of professional skills among emergency service personnel was of vital importance particularly 911 call center operators.

Recognizing the critical role of this key link in the emergency management system, the Russian-Armenian Humanitarian Response Center organized a training on “Professional training for 911 emergency service operators: operative algorithms” from May 12 to 23. The goal was to enhance the professional competencies of 24/7 emergency response system operators in Yerevan and the regions, improve the speed and accuracy of responses, and strengthen decision-making abilities during crisis situations.

The training was structured around an in-depth study of established operative algorithms, as well as the development of quick decision-making skills tailored to real-life emergency scenarios.

As part of the training, participants engaged in discussions on a range of important topics, including the specifics of communicating with and appropriately responding to citizens with psychological challenges. After completing the study of each topic, the participants took a thematic test, a final test to assess their skills at the end of the course.

The creation of an international civil defense organization, international experience, as well as the approach to considering the civil defense system as a disaster prevention and management mechanism were discussed. In parallel, the participants were introduced to modern directions and strategic approaches in the development of crisis management, which contributes to the continuous improvement of services.

The key emphasis was placed on the idea that the activity of an operator is not limited to following predefined algorithms. Each professional must be able to respond swiftly to the specific nuances of a situation, demonstrating flexible thinking, confidence in their abilities and a strong sense of responsibility.

At the conclusion of the training, participants were awarded certificates as recognition of the professional knowledge and skills they had acquired. This once again underscored the vital role that highly trained 911 call center operators play in ensuring public safety. The continuous development of professional capabilities within emergency services and the improvement of the response system are essential conditions for building an effective, rapid and reliable service ultimately serving the goal of safeguarding citizens' lives.
