On April 18, the first meeting of the interdepartmental working group led by Director of RS-Deputy Minister of IR Kamo Tsutsulyan established to prevent wildfires held this year.
The meeting was attended by RS Deputy Directors, heads of responsible departments and representatives of relevant agencies and regional administrations.

Kamo Tsutsulyan first addressed issues related to the prevention of wildfires and mitigation of their results, emphasizing that although the Rescue Service was capable of responding adequately even in the most complex situations, achieving more good results requires the daily coordinated efforts of all relevant bodies.

Statistical data was presented, showing that in the first quarter of this year, compared to the same period last year, there was an increase in wildfires.

The Director of the Rescue Service, analyzing the situation, proposed targeted solutions which became the subject of a general discussion. Kamo Tsutsulyan particularly emphasized the importance of regularly conducting explanatory and preventive activities through joint field visits with residents living near forest areas. In this context, the participants agreed to carry out joint public awareness campaigns not only through direct communication with the population but also via mass media.

Kamo Tsutsulyan also touched upon the activities of volunteer groups and the development of this culture in our country with the support of international partners, highlighting that the prompt response of volunteer groups can also help prevent the spread of wildfires.
In the context of prevention, the participants also discussed round-the-clock duty in fire-prone areas, rapid response, and other sector-related issues.

The practical issues encountered in real situations were raised, and effective solutions were determined through joint discussions based on the observations of the interdepartmental working group members.

The representatives of the relevant bodies reached agreements regarding the timeline and effective implementation of practical steps to be undertaken jointly.
