On August 7, 2025, a regular session of the interagency working group was held at the Rescue Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, chaired by Director of the Rescue Service-Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Kamo Tsutsulyan.
The session was attended by deputy directors of the Rescue Service, heads of responsible divisions, and representatives of relevant government agencies.
Welcoming the participants, Kamo Tsutsulyan emphasized the importance of such discussions and the strengthened cooperation that results from them. He noted that collaboration among specialists from different fields within the working group will contribute to effective risk management and addressing challenges more efficiently.
Gurgen Martirosyan, Head of Population Protection and Disaster Risk Reduction Department of the Rescue Service, presented the agenda points, followed by an active and engaging discussion.
During the session, members of the interagency working group raised pressing issues and proposed practical solutions.
The session also addressed the need to continue research in areas not currently included in the official landslide-prone zone list, the feasibility of carrying out afforestation and drainage works in landslide-prone areas, and the tightening of control over illegal logging in forested zones located on community-owned lands, among other issues.
In concluding the session, Kamo Tsutsulyan thanked the participants and emphasized that targeted disaster risk management requires a consistent and methodical approach, and that such discussions are key to identifying new and more effective solutions to existing challenges.
