Interagency workshop dedicated to disaster risk management in Armenia took place

From July 15 to 17, a workshop dedicated to the topics of "Disaster management capacity analysis, hazard identification, and risk assessment" was held in Armenia through the joint efforts of the U.S. Embassy in Armenia and the U.S. Security Governance Institute.

Participants included representatives from various ministries of the Republic of Armenia, including the Ministry of Internal Affairs, as well as committees, the National Academy of Sciences, and the Territorial Seismic Protection Service.

During the three-day workshop, participants discussed and analyzed issues related to the identification of disaster risks, the detection of gaps, operational strategies, program monitoring, evaluation, and adjustments.

The impact of disasters at national, regional, and local levels was studied, which is of fundamental importance for emergency management in Armenia.

Using the knowledge gained and applying American experience, participants developed a chart for identifying specific capacities and drafting documentation.

By actively assessing the impacts of disaster threats, hazards, and risks, Armenia can build more resilient communities and strengthen its capacity to respond to and recover from disasters.

Participants received certificates upon completion of the workshop.
