Inspection of fire water supply for fire protection and fire hydrants of Yerevan city

Under the instruction by the Director of RS-Deputy Minister of IA Kamo Tsutsulyan and within the annual action plan, a comprehensive series of inspections were implemented by the Fire and Rescue Squads of Yerevan Rescue Department. The fire hydrants across the entire Yerevan city, both operating and newly installed, were inspected with a detailed assessment of their compliance and technical condition.

In 2024, a total of 101 new fire hydrants were installed across the Republic, while 71 existing hydrants were renovated. These efforts are particularly important for ensuring the compliance of fire hydrants with the technical specifications required for fire trucks, which enables rescuers to respond quickly and effectively to any fire emergency case.

Personnel of the subdivisions under Yerevan Rescue Department of the Rescue Service of MIA implemented the inspection of fire reservoirs and fire hydrants at various addresses and studied the operative-tactical characteristics of fire protection sites facilities. Specifically, inspections were conducted at the following sites: A. Spendiarian National Academic Theatre of Opera and Ballet, the National Library of Armenia, the National Gallery of Armenia, the State Philharmonic Orchestra of Armenia, the Matenadaran Mesrop Mashtots Institute of Ancient Manuscripts, the National Museum of Armenian History, as well as the buildings of the National Archives of Armenia. Inspections also took place at the Karen Demirchyan Sports and Concert Complex, the National Radio Company of Armenia, the Public Television Company of Armenia, Tashir, Rossiya Mall, Erebuni Mall, Dalma Garden Mall, Yerevan Mall, Mega Mall and Rio Mall shopping centers, as well as Gum and Malatia market areas. The inspections focused on the fire reservoirs and fire hydrants present at these locations.

Such activities are carried out to identify shortcomings and present recommendations to the management of the respective facilities for the elimination of malfunctions, as well as for the improvement of fire water supply, firefighting systems and equipment. This includes organizing and carrying out work to repair damaged fire hydrants and those buried under asphalt, as well as making operational again fire hydrants that do not meet the operative and technical specifications for fire trucks in terms of shape and diameter. 

Planned activities have high importance, as ensuring that fire hydrants were in proper working conditions and good technical state was a necessary condition for quick and effective firefighting. This, in turn, is essential for ensuring the safety of citizens and the well-being of the public.
