icicles were removed in Yerevan and the provinces
The fairy tale of snowy days can have a sad ending: as a result of thawing, icicles on rooftops can become a real threat to pedestrians.
By order of the Director of RS-Deputy Minister of IA Kamo Tsutsulyan, inspections were conducted in Yerevan and the provinces, during which icicles were removed. In particular, rescue service personnel, using special equipment, removed hanging icicles and ice accumulated in drainage systems from the roofs of buildings of public significance, kindergartens, schools, multi-apartment residential buildings, as well as from bridges, tunnels and overpasses.
The Deputy Head of Crisis Management National Center of the Rescue Service of the MIA Arsen Saroyan noted, “From January 1 to 12, the Rescue Service units in cooperation with the Yerevan Municipality, administrative districts and relevant regional structures, responded to 162 cases, 89 of which were schools, 55 were preschool educational institutions and 18 were other facilities of public importance. 49 cases were responded to in Yerevan and 113 in the provinces”.
The activities are ongoing in order to prevent further risks.
