Psychological assistance for casualties of the major fire in Stepanavan town
On February 8 in 2025, specialists from the Psychological Assistance Division of the Rescue Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Armenia dispatched to Stepanavan town of Lori province, to provide psychological assistance to citizens affected by the devastating fire in Ashotaberd block.
The psychological assistance provided by emergency specialists was aimed at improving the mental state of the affected citizens and alleviating the impact of stressful situations. The objective of the activity was not only to reduce stress levels but also to help casualties develop coping mechanisms, provide emotional support and assist them in the process of overcoming these difficult experiences. At the scene, psychologists provided psychological first aid to a total of 20 citizens who were directly affected by the fire. They received specialized counseling aimed at reducing emotional distress and supporting psychological recovery.
It should be noted that the Psychological Assistance Division of the Rescue Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs consistently provides psychological assistance to all citizens who find themselves in emergency situations and require mental health support.
Psychological support plays a crucial role, especially for vulnerable groups, contributing not only to physical recovery but also significantly improving mental well-being. This is particularly important in situations where individuals must cope with challenging and emotionally distressing experiences.
