According to statistical data, there were 13 recorded wildfires in Armenia in 2024, which is a 40.9% decrease compared to the previous year. In 2024, 13 ha were burnt, which is 79.7% less than the previous year.

The process of extinguishing wildfires is a complex multi-layered action. The fires can spread quickly, making them difficult to control. The stages of fire suppression include preventing the spread, localizing, extinguishing and monitoring the fire.

• As part of preventive measures, it is forbidden to:
• Light fires in prohibited areas;
• Leave the forest without ensuring that the fire is fully extinguished;
• Throw burning matches or cigarette butts;
• Refuel vehicles with running engines;
• Operate vehicles with faulty fueling systems;
• Burn dry grass or straw (except for controlled burning);
• Leave bottles or glass pieces in sunlit fields;
• Leave rags soaked in flammable liquids.

To prevent forest fires, it is essential to follow fire safety rules. If you notice a fire or smoke, call the Rescue Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs at 911.
