The process of extinguishing wildfires is a complex multi-layered action. The fires can spread quickly, making them difficult to control. The stages of fire suppression include preventing the spread, localizing, extinguishing and monitoring the fire.
- As part of preventive measures, it is forbidden to:
- Light fires in prohibited areas;
- Leave the forest without ensuring that the fire is fully extinguished;
- Throw burning matches or cigarette butts;
- Refuel vehicles with running engines;
- Operate vehicles with faulty fueling systems;
- Burn dry grass or straw (except for controlled burning);
- Leave bottles or glass pieces in sunlit fields;
- Leave rags soaked in flammable liquids.
To prevent forest fires, it is essential to follow fire safety rules. If you notice a fire or smoke, call the Rescue Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs at 911.
