Firefighters are continuing to extinguish fire at Nubarashen landfill

On October 11, at 20։00, the Rescue Service units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, by order of Minister of Internal Affairs Arpine Sargsyan, are continuing intensive firefighting activiteis in the 2 ha area of Nubarashen landfill in Yerevan city.

During the firefighting activities, the rescuers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs are effectively cooperating with the employees of Yerevan Municipality. The activity on site is coordinated by the Director of RS-Deputy Minister of IA Kamo Tsutsulyan.

During the day, about 374 tons of water were used and about 300 earthworks were implemented to prevent the spread of the fire. There was no open fire, there were smoking areas and the volume of smoke had decreased.

10 fire units and 3 operative groups were involved in the firefighting activities: a total of 77 rescuers, Yerevan Municipality forces with water pipelines and engineering equipment.
Firefighting activities are currently continuing with the same intensity.

Let us remind you that on October 9, at 23:53, the Crisis Management National Center received an emergency call about a fire broken out at the Nubarashen landfill.

As a result of the prompt response, firefighters managed to limit the spread of the fire in the first hours, covering an area of about 2 hectares of household waste.

In the first days, 6 fire brigades, 1 operational group and 29 rescue workers were involved, as well as 11 trucks, 2 water tankers and 5 engineering equipment from the Yerevan Municipality. 55 trucks of soil were transported to the fire site and about 50 tons of water were pumped.
