Field exercise on "Organization and implementation of search and rescue operations in case of an earthquake" was held in Lori province

On October 10, the Lori Urban Search and Rescue team conducted a field exercise on "Organization and implementation of search and rescue operations in case of an earthquake" in Vanadzor town of Lori province, in accordance with the requirements of the UN International Search and Rescue Advisory Group (INSARAG).
The exercise aimed to increase the level of readiness of the urban search and rescue team for international missions. THe USRR team was led by the Head of the Regional Crisis Management Center of Lori Rescue Department of the Rescue Service of MIA of RA, r/s Lieutenant Colonel Armen Dunamalyan.
The process of the exercise was monitored by the working group of the Ministry of Internal Affairs led by the Assistant RS Director of MIA Armen Gevorgyan.
During the training, the team acted out a strong earthquake scenario: according to the designated sites, the rescue teams carried out situation assessment, reconnaissance, rope, fastening activities, demolition of concrete constructions, as well as search and rescue operations, search for conditional casualties, first aid and transfer to an ambulance.
Summarizing the work done by the participants A. Gevorgyan noted the strengths and weaknesses of the exercise, instructed to work on the elimination of the recorded shortcomings.
