On August 27, at 00:33 local time (at 22:02 GMT) the Seismological Network of the Territorial Seismic Protection Service of the MIA of RA registered an earthquake of magnitude 5.5 and 10 kilometers deep with the geographic coordinates 42.52⁰ N latitude and 48․20⁰ E longitude on 75 km south-east from Makhachkala town of Russian Federation.

The intensity of the earthquake in the epicenter was VII-VIII.

The earthquake was felt in a number of communities in Tavush province with the intensity of II-III.
