On April 4, at 04:19 local time (GMT+4 hours) the Seismological Network of the Territorial Seismic Protection Service of the MIA of RA registered an earthquake of magnitude 3.1 and 10 kilometers deep with the geographic coordinates 39․28⁰N latitude and 46.56⁰ E longitude in the Republic of Azerbaijan, on 6 km north-east from Kapan town of the Republic of Armenia. The intensity of the earthquake in the epicenter was IV.

The earthquake was felt in Kapan town of Syunik province with the intensity of II-III.
