On March 11, at 15:26 an emergency call was received to Aragatsotn Regional Crisis Management Center that an avalanche had occurred on the northern summit of Mount Aragats: a group of nine people had been trapped under the avalanche, eight people were rescued, while one remained missing.

The operative group, one fire unit from the Fire and Rescue Squad of Regional Rescue Department, the rescue group from Center for Carrying out Activities of Special Importance of the Rescue Service of the MIA of RA dispatched to the scene.

51 rescuers and 2 helicopters of "Armenian Helicopters" company were involved in search and rescue operations.

According to preliminary data, 8 mountaineers (citizens of the Kingdom of Spain) were transported by helicopter to Aragats village, then the latters were hospitalized in medical centers with varying degrees of injuries. One citizen remains missing.

Search and rescue operations are ongoing.
