Demonstration of a special tactical exercise was held in Kotayk province

On September 17, a special tactical demonstration exercise on "Organization and implementation of firefighting and evacuation in case of fire in a school" was organized and conducted by the subdivisions of the Kotayk Regional Rescue Department at the "Basic School No. 11 named after William Saroyan" in Hrazdan.

The goals of the exercise were the following:

  • To improve the practical skills and capabilities of participants in decision-making regarding population protection measures in case of fire, as well as in implementing the rescue and urgent recovery operations.
  • To strengthen the cooperation between the educational institution and the involved response forces.

Participants included officers from the Hrazdan Division of the Kotayk Regional Police Department, the Hrazdan Patrol Service, employees of “1-03” emergency service in Hrazdan Medical Center and staff of Basic School No. 11.

To ensure the effectiveness of the exercise, detailed documentation was prepared in advance, consultations were held with the participating services and practical training sessions were conducted with the Hrazdan Fire and Rescue Squad.

Before the rescuers arrived at the scene, the evacuation of students and necessary property, followed by an accounting of those evacuated had been organized by the Director along with the teaching and support staff of the school. Created groups within the school assisted in the evacuation process.

The rescuers provided first aid to the students as casualties on the first and second floors.  The rescuers evacuated them from the building using rescue ropes and stretcher and moved to the ambulance.

The Hrazdan Police and Patrol Service ensured public order throughout the exercise.

At the end of the exercise, the Deputy Head of the Kotayk Regional Rescue Department summarized the results highlighting identified shortcomings and providing relevant orders and recommendations.

The exercise was marked as successful and it was noted that participants were prepared to perform their assigned tasks accurately and on time.
