Children safety and protection organization as a priority: facility-based drill conducted at high school in Vayk

Preparedness and ensuring the safety of pupils and academic staff in educational institutions in seismic zones is not just a matter of theoretical knowledge. It requires regular practical exercises that ensure calm and effective response in crisis situations.

On November 20, facility-based drill on "Organizing the protection of academic staff and pupils in case of a strong earthquake" was conducted at the high School of Vayk town of Vayots Dzor province.

The exercise implemented under the leadership of the school principal was attended by representatives of the Vayots Dzor Regional Rescue Department of the Rescue Service of the RA MIA.

The main goal of the drill was to assess the practical preparedness of the school academic staff in emergency situations and to strengthen cooperation with the regional rescue department.

According to the scenario, upon feeling tremors, the school military instructor organized the evacuation of academic staff and pupils. The situation was immediately reported to the Crisis Management Center of Vayots Dzor Regional Rescue Department. One fire unit and the operative group from Vayk Fire and Rescue Squad dispatched at the scene to implement the evacuation of simulated casualties and conduct rescue operations.

At the end of the drill, issues related to preventing panic during emergencies were discussed. The representatives of the Rescue Service, after evaluating the situation, provided recommendations aimed at improving the efficiency of evacuation procedures.

The drill conducted at Vayk High School as a reminder that children’s safety cannot be left to chance or emergency reaction alone. It requires a systematic approach, planning, as well as, most importantly, continuous effort.
