On August 17, at 17։19 an emergency call was received to Vayots Dzor Regional Crisis Management Center that car accident had occurred near Chiva village: the rescuers' help was needed.

One fire unit from the Fire and Rescue Squad of Regional Rescue Department of the Rescue Service of the MIA of RA dispatched to the scene.

It turned out that “Nissan” car ran off the roadway and rolled about 200 meters into the gorge at the 98th km of Yerevan-Meghri roadway.

Before the rescuers arrived at the scene, the passenger had been pulled out of the car by the local forces.

The doctors pronounced him dead. The driver was hospitalized in a medical center.

The rescuers disconnected the automotive battery and closed the gas valve of the car.
