World Civil Defense Day provides a unique opportunity to remind the population of the most important rules for ensuring protection and safety, as well as the necessary protective actions to effectively respond to emergency situations. This day is important not only in terms of informing people, but also in terms of strengthening their preparedness to make immediate and correct decisions to ensure their safety.
Within the framework of thematic events, the rescuers of Ararat Regional Rescue Department of the Rescue Service of the MIA organized and conducted an exercise on the topic of “Organization of warning and shelter in case of an “Air-raid” warning siren” at the newly built secondary school in Pokr Vedi settlement. The exercise included both theoretical and practical stages, ensuring the comprehensive preparation of the participants and the opportunity to acquire practical skills.
During the exercise, according to the planned scenario, a report was received that military maneuvers were observed along the border of the opposing country, and flying drones were detected in the border airspace. Thus, an "Air-raid" was announced, after which a raid was issued.
The school administration, having received the relevant warning from Vedi Municipality, immediately began sheltering the students and staff, ensuring their safety. After the shelter was completed, a detailed search of the area was conducted, during which one stuck student and two casualties were found. Rescuers quickly moved the casualties to a safe place, where the medical team provided first aid.
At the end of the training exercise, the supervisor summarized the completed tasks, presented the results, addressing both the successes and the shortcomings that emerged, and provided corresponding suggestions and feedback for addressing the issues.
Within the framework of the theoretical phase of the event, the students presented a historical and educational overview on the topic of "History of Civil Defense," aimed at familiarizing the audience with the main measures of civil defense.
During the event, a video on the topic of "Code of Conduct during an Air Raid" was also shown, which provided students with a detailed explanation of the behavioral protocols to follow in the event of an air attack.
This event demonstrated that ensuring the safety of the population not only requires preparation but also practical skills to defend quickly and effectively when necessary.
