Training course on "Organization of search and rescue activities in rubble, buildings and structures"
From March 10 to 14, 12 unit commanders from the fire and rescue squads of the Yerevan Rescue Department of the MIA of the RA participated in a training course on "Organization of Search and Rescue Activities in Ruins, Buildings and Structures" at the Russian-Armenian Humanitarian Response Center.
The goal of the training was to develop theoretical knowledge and practical skills of rescuers in order to work with rubble more effectively.
During the theoretical training, the rescuers became familiar with the classification of rubble according to INSARAG, studied the technical characteristics of hydraulic, hydrodynamic, and pneumatic rescue equipment, as well as issues of organizing communication during rescue activities.
During the practical exercises, the participants performed number of tasks, such as opening passages in reinforced concrete structures, overcoming obstacles in confined spaces, rescuing people from rubble, as well as working with a crane-manipulator device.
The participants received certificates upon successful completion of the course.
